It is commonly touted that practicing gratitude goes a long way to lessen depression, anxiety and stress.
However, writing and saying aloud a list of random things I was grateful for just didn't work for me. Also, I struggled to write every single day.
So I researched what things would be best to focus on for happiness, how to keep both the good and bad events in perspective, and how often one really needed to journal in order to experience the mental health benefits of journaling. (Answer: as little as once a week.)
I created this effective gratitude journal for myself and started feeling improvement within the first week. The prompts focus on a variety of topics, and also leaves room to record life's wonderous suprises.
I enjoy reading entries from previous weeks to remind myself that I am not alone, people DO care about me, and that even when situations seem hopeless, solutions can appear as if by magic.
